Meet the Team

Mark Beale graduated from Salisbury University with a communications degree. He has lived in Myrtle Beach since 2001 and has been with the John T. Rhodes Myrtle Beach Sports Center since its conception in 2014, where he started as the Sponsorship Manager. Before that, he worked in the golf sales industry for twelve years and the Myrtle Beach CVB for four years as a Sports Sales Manager. Mark brings an extensive background in the sports industry to the team.

When Mark isn’t at work, he attends Gamecocks football games, listens to Darius Rucker, plays golf, and spends time traveling with his wife and three children.

Danielle Hennessy brings a strong knowledge of sports management to the team. On top of earning her Bachelors in Sport Management from Coastal Carolina University as well as her Masters in Entertainment and Sport Management from University of SC, she has been a dedicated employee since 2015. Additionally, she assisted with the pre-opening stages and opening of the Rocky Mount Event Center in 2018.

When Danielle isn’t at work, she enjoys being outdoors, attending concerts, and spending time with her family.

Tami Sterling has an extensive background in food and beverage as well as leadership. She was an CNA at a nursing home for 20 years, worked four years for the City of Myrtle Beach, and worked five years for the Myrtle Beach Convention Center as a Concessions Team Leader.

When Tami isn’t at work, she enjoys spending time with her granddaughter, Isabella, watching the Buffalo Bills, and cruising.

Rebecca Kochan, a West Virginia native, earned her Bachelor and Master of Accountancy degrees with emphasis in Fraud Detection from Coastal Carolina University in 2016 and 2017. Prior to this, she worked in radiology for 17 years.

When Rebecca isn’t at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, three sons, grandson, cat, and dog. She is an avid supporter of all Pittsburgh sports teams and loves to travel.

Bill Lyne brings a background of leadership and service to the team. After serving in the Navy for five years, Bill went on to be a courthouse facilities manager in Massachusetts for 22 years.

When he isn’t at work, Bill spends his time watching Boston sports teams.

Blake Barbee earned his Bachelors in Sport Management from NC State. Before working at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center, Blake worked for the City of Myrtle Beach for 6 years as a Sports Tourism Team Leader.

Outside of work, Blake immerses himself in sports – from owning a flag football league, to coaching his son’s baseball team and attending Myrtle Beach Pelican’s baseball games.

Kat started her career in sports management in college. While in college, Kat became part of our team in May 2019. Kat graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2020 with a degree in Recreation and Sports Management. Following college, she worked as a Recreation Leader at Loris Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department. Currently, Kat works as a Recreation Leader for the City of Myrtle Beach in the Youth Sports Department and part-time with us. Kat enjoys being on the beach, listening to music, and traveling.

Jam has a diverse employment background from warehouse operations to landscaping and event operations. Jam is also a self-taught graphic designer which lead him to starting his own business designing logos. Jam has been with the Myrtle Beach Sports Center since December of 2020. Jam spends his time outside of work with his four daughters, volunteering at their school functions and attending their sporting events.

Austin joined our team in June 2021 as an internship opportunity through his Sports Tourism degree program at Horry Georgetown Technical College. In addition to working at the Sports Center, Austin also works at a local surf shop and teaches surf lessons. Austin is one of our few employees who are native to the Myrtle Beach area.

Lynn has an extensive employment background in home healthcare and office management. Lynn’s hard-working mentality started at a young age, being raised on her family’s farm in Northern New York as one of eight children. Lynn moved to Myrtle Beach in July 2016 and joined the Myrtle Beach team in May 2021. Lynn is happily married with three children and nine grandchildren. Outside of work, Lynn enjoys baking, being at the beach, hosting cookouts at her pool, and watching scary movies.
